The Schola Lives!

Posted: January 29th, 2010 by Garrick Keigwin

I’m pretty sure most of you will have noticed that the Schola stayed in maintenance mode for a lot longer than usual. Simply put, because I broke it… oops!
While trying to update the forums to the latest version (3.0.6) I goofed up and things got a little messy. But no worries :) Everything is fixed now and back in working order.

As always if you happen to find any buys please report them in the Bugs Topic :)

Classrooms Open!

Posted: January 16th, 2010 by Mistress Procellifer

The classrooms sub-forum has been opened! Please read the Curriculum Guidelines and browse around to see the changes that have been made since the war began. We’ve made a distinction between theory and practical threads, merged some subjects, changed others, and generally made it a bit more clear and hopefully more interesting.

Most students will have to choose new subjects based on the amended list below. PM Mistress Procellifer, notifying her of your amended list, and you will be added to the register of students. If any teachers are unhappy with their current position, also PM Mistress Procellifer to request a change of title, subject, or to resign a post.

Practical lessons will begin once we’ve got a decent number of sign-ups to the new curriculum.

Maintenance Completed

Posted: January 14th, 2010 by Garrick Keigwin

Yet another maintenance session has come to a close, hopefully it didn’t disrupt too many of you and to those that did notice the maintenance I hope you enjoyed the maintenance boards. Hopefully the transition between using the forums & the maintenance forums wasn’t too noticeable or inconvenient for you all. For those of you who missed the maintenance boards and are nosey, you really didn’t miss anything the boards are now hosted as a subforum (maintenance.schola-draiochta.com) and are only accessible when the main site is in maintenance and the only credible deference between the two forums besides the URL is the maintenance forums do not have Wordpress or Wikipedia integrated, otherwise you’d be non the wiser. All features have now been re-enabled and the software that runs this site has now been upgraded to their latests versions meaning we can all relax and enjoy a slightly speedier service as well as greatly increased security.

With the upgrade from phpbb3 (3.0.5) to (3.0.6) we also gained a new feature that came bundled with the software, for those of you who user e-readers you can now get updates when certain forums have been posted in. I’ve currently got it configured to show the latest 10 updates overall in all the forums except the archives. This may change however as Procellifer tweaks the settings to something that would be more beneficial to the site. For those of you who would like to subscribe to our feed the link is – http://www.schola-draiochta.com/feed.php

In addition to the maintenance I have also give a few forum icons a makeover, hopefully they shouldn’t be too noticeable :)

As with any upgrade to the software there is always a slim chance that a few bugs could have made their way into our systems, so as always if you spot an error message anywhere or a bit of the site that isn’t acting like it should then post a Bug Report over in the Bug Topic or alternatively if you can not access the bug forum you can also email me.

And that just about wraps up another Maintenance Session. So until next time take care and continue to use & enjoy The Schola,

Garrick Keigwin

Update – heh seems like I had spoken too soon as there was an error with the coding we use for us to be able to display your avatar in the sidebar and elsewhere on the site. This should now be fixed, sorry for an inconvenience caused by my sleep deprived mistake :)

Hi guys,

There’s nothing to worry about but we will have to ask you to refrain from using the site until it’s been sorted. They have assured me its only temporary and I will update this post with any updates I hear.
